Frequently Asked Questions

Is there more documentation available?
The only existing documentation is what's here on CodePlex and the posts on the project blog:

At what distances does the finger detection work?
Because of the limited resolution of 640x480 of the devices it gets hard to distinguish fingers at distances greater than 1 meter. The default settings limit the depth range to 500mm - 800mm.

Does Candescent NUI work with Kinect SDK?
It does work with Kinect For Windows with enabled Near Mode. Kinect For XBOX isn't recommended, because it does not return depth values below 850mm.

I have KinectSDK and OpenNI installed and your project does not work
I strongly recommend against installing both OpenNI and the KinectSDK. There is a project that tries to make this work, but I haven't testet that myself. You should choose if you want to use OpenNI or KinectSDK.

I can't install OpenNI
Here is an installer that contains everything you need:

VS 2010 Express tells me that the assembly Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.UnitTesting is missing
VS Express does not support Microsofts Testing Framework. You can remove the test project from the solution, the rest should work.

I installed OpenNI correctly and the OpenNI samples do run, but I get an error (BadImageFormatExeception) when I try to run Candescent NUI
Check if you've installed the 64-bit version of OpenNI. The Candescent NUI default build uses the 64-bit version.

Hi this is very nice it working very fine with Xpro Asus , but i have ask one thing that as you given a answer for this "At what distances does the finger detection work?" Question that the resolution as set to 648x480 then depth should not more than 1 meter if we change the resolution 1280x1024 then is it possible to finger detection correct?

Hello, after everything installed, CCT.NUI.Samples works, but I'm trying to use the mouse module and the following message appears: "No hand generate found . One is needed for session manager." Please know the reason for the error?
